About Us

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Veteran Females United emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support female veterans, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.

Established in 2013 as a university student club, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.

2013
Five female veterans became the core members of Veteran Females United (VFU) by supporting each other through educational, personal, and professional experiences.  It began as a university student organization.

2014

The group expanded the organization from a university sponsored group to a community organization in order to recruit and support female veterans in the Rio Grande Valley.

2016

VFU officially incorporated as a 501(c)3 and established a statue of a female veteran at Brownsville Veterans Park.

2021

Veteran Females United expanded to Central Texas.
